It's Official - No Winter Training at The Red Mile
10/4/08 KyHarnessRacing.com

It's official, according to a high ranking source
working from within The Red Mile, horses will not be
training at The Red Mile this winter. The reason for
this decision is not yet clear, other than something to
    do with uncollected stall rent.

So the issue of winter training is off the table.

Now KHHA board members, it's time to roll up your
sleeves and go after the horsemen's share of ADW
(Advanced Deposit Wagering). The figure from 2006
was right at $23 million. The purse account gets 0%.

Maybe its time to give the Horsemen's Benevolent &
Protective Association (HBPA) a call, to get their
insight of how they negotiated for the ADW accounts
    at Ellis Park.

After all was said and done, the horsemen's purse
account at Ellis Park currently receives 6% of the
revenue generated from the ADW accounts, thanks
to the dedication and hard work of the HBPA.

Just in case any KHHA board member decides to step
up to the plate, here is the number for the Executive
Director of the Kentucky HBPA, Marty Maline:
    (502) 363-1077. It's time to get this ball rolling.

If our KHHA board members are not capable of
negotiating winter training or getting the horsemen
their fair share of the ADW accounts, then maybe its
time for someone to step down.
