Check and Balances Not Unwarranted
Folks, I've got the all the CHECKS in, I'm working on the BALANCE.
And I know there are some out there that would like to do the
BALANCING...I'll just call it...CHECKS AND BALANCES. If you
haven't liked reading anything I have written on Trackside in the
past, then please.....I must warn you....read no more.....cause
you're not gonna like this one either....plus you're only one click
away from out of here. If it's your first time, you may want to read
the Trackside archives first. So you can read if you like. Or you can
CLICK if you wish. It's time for YOU TO CHOOSE....and yes......
It's YOUR CHOICE....NO ONE ELSES.
Say Betting is up?
While The Red Mile is celebrating, I must ask..............Why are we
celebrating that we are racing 20 race cards at the Red Mile, and
that Betting is up? The Hoofbeats articles say congratulations are
in order for Kevin Mack and Joe Costa. Com'n now, betting is up
from what? THE HANDLE FROM LAST YEAR? LET'S take in
consideration.....THE NUMBER OF RACES LAST YEAR and the
NUMBER OF RACES FOR THIS YEAR? It's apples and oranges
folks. So from all of us in NJ and PA, we say "thanks Mack, we
needed a place to race while our meet was down." Where am I
going with this?? The fact that EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE HAPPY
that they have raced 162 races and ONLY 41 have been for our
class of horses..41 huh..that's only 25%.
Well, Jack Gray is in the 75% racing (and I think thats good for
Jack), but who else..NO one.....Why are we giving our money
away. I understand that there are early closers and stakes races,
but 75% of them, mixed with the nw1 (and Meadowlands pace
runners) or $2500 claiming trotter (also eligible Sand Vic). How
about the 4 horse field OPEN PACE and 6 horse field FILLY & MARE
OPEN. Why did you throw that money away. You could have
combine those two classes for us Mack. Now I know that you
know how to combine classes.....RIGHT........ GET REAL MACK.
We need Leadership.
NOT JUST SLOTS. NO ONE HAS YET TO STAND UP TO THESE
SO-CALLED LEADERS AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. If these
exact same leaders get elected again, then together, we will
watch Kentucky fail and FADE TO BLACK..You have 4 months! Pick
a person who you know, will get things done. Pick your nose for
goodness sake, just don't pick the, the Fence Riders, the No
Comment Guy, the YES MEN, the Oblivious(General). ARE THEY
REALLY HELPING KENTUCKY RACING.
You have all asked for slots.
Great, what good will slots do, if you race 6 weeks out of the year,
and just 25% of the races..Clean Sweep these guys OUT. And
how are these guys gonna handle slots. The same way they do
with Telephone Account Wagering. Let's say it one more time in
case you missed this part. As stated in a comment, "Let's talk
about all the handle the Red Mile is doing in Telephone Account
Wagering yearly......believe me, fellow horsemen, it accounts for
at least 60% of the TOTAL handle for the year. You might ask
yourself how much goes into the purse account for the horsemen?
Well Bill and Bob worked long and hard this past year with the
Red Mile to get 0%............ ..................LET ME PAUSE WHILE
YOU LET THIS ALL SINK IN ............TAKE A LONG GANDER AT
THIS FELLOW HORSEMEN......... ..........NADA, ZERO,
ZILCH...NOT ONE STINKING PENNY !!!!!!!
(makes you wonder...did they even try?) Or was the DECIDING
FACTOR winter training or a big order of free barbecue from Matts
kitchen and a slap on the back with a "your so good for Kentucky
and the harness horsemen...the Red Mile really appreciates you
Bill...."
And I heard someone say, "we can't afford to lose Bill". Lose
Napier to what????? Hard work he puts in the Kentucky
program!!!! Can you say that with a straight face----how often
(pre-KyHarnessRacing.com) did you see him at the track other
than when the Red Mile was paying him to start? The only time he
shows up is if he is getting paid for it or if a free meal is involved.
As I have said------FOLLOW THE MONEY------you will find him and
his associates, all with their hands out! I ask.....would you want
him leading your company? But anyway, please don't take me
seriously-----keep paying him. He's a natural born leader. The
horsemen need him `to lead them into the slots era.
Don't worry UNCLE BOBBY, you asked and we are answering.
There will be some new PEOPLE seeking seats on the KHHA board
the next election. We can turn the KHHA upside down and give
days and money back to the horsemen!
HAS IT SUNK IN YET. Don't hate this site, or the column
"Trackside" for that matter. Read my articles. Read it ALL, let it
ALL SOAK IN, then DO something about it besides getting on the
comment page or another forum, or a cell phone (with a KHHA Rep
or the Red Mile Bat phone) SAY what you mean to your
representatives. If they don't listen to you....then send in your
comment about that. Even contact the Racing Authority...But keep
pushing. It is what lobbyist do everyday in order to get what they
want. How do you think the Motorcyclists got the 'NO HELMET
REQUIRED LAW' passed in Kentucky.

BIG SIX FIGURE SHOW WAGER $$$$$$$$$$$
Did anyone hear about the money bet on MCA last Thursday night? There was $303,962 in the show pool for that race. $298,499 was bet to show on MCA at a New Jersey simulcasting hub. That created a minus pool.
Where am I going with this you might ask?
Did the Red Mile really lose between $10,000 and $20,000 on this race?
Did someone forget to make that race a "NO SHOW" Wagering event?
Was Mack at a sale when all this was to be taken care of?
The answer to these questions IS Yes.
What did Kevin have to say?
What did Joe have to say?
Bobby, the next meeting we are in, go ahead and yell at me. It looks good to whoever else is in there. Then we can talk more about winter training.

DON'T FORGET
Thunder Ridge Race Dates
It sure makes good economic sense for the track and the horsemen to race consecutive to Bluegrass Downs.
Yes, Bill that means to begin within two weeks after Bluegrass Downs meet ends. Not wait, till Mack is available and have a TWO MONTH gap on the Kentucky Circuit.
There is not another TRACK in the country that make their Race Dates around a RACE SECRETARY.
Fairs horses DO NOT conflict with racing at Thunder Ridge. History will tell you this.
The only thing it conflicts with is Hoosier Park dates. And what does that mean? Mack wouldn't be able work the RIDGE. Is that good decision making FOLKS-to surround you're racing dates around ONE person--might I add--an Bill thinks so.
We are getting ready to uncover something that has be going on for the past five years at Thunder Ridge. It all has to do with RACE DATES and the KHHA.
If there are any BOARD MEMBERS reading, PLEASE WAKE UP!!!! Or GET OUT!!!!!
