Critics expecting me to underachieve........ I just deal with what I see Trackside is back in full force with another week of mixed emotions on the Ky circuit. I would first like to Congratulate Clyde Steven's Chevie Classic Rod for winning an elimination of the Orange and Blue in Chi'town. The final was a different story however, with a "parked" poor drive by Andy Miller, but the colt came back great after the race and will hopefully continue his domination in the KY fairs next season. I would also like to congratulate Sam Bowie for his win with trotter, Before He Cheats who destroyed his competition at Balmoral's Super Night. This colt has been under the radar this season piling up win after win in IL. Sam Bowie is great for KY racing and racing in general for that matter. He has owned some greats in the past and this trotter is no exception. I had the chance to meet with Mr. Bowie at the Red Mile in the spring. I can only say that he is knowledgeable and a very down to earth individual. Bowie is an prime example of what Ky's leaders "should" be.
the 13th, at the Red Mile, you witnessed greatness. Earlier with Donato Hanover and now with World Champion Lis Mara. This is one of the great things that the Red Mile does do. It's fast, cushion track brings the GREAT ONES into town. This is what grand circuit racing is all about. Pretty Horses and FAST Women....Or something like that. I urge all of the readers, horsemen or fan, to come out and witness the Grand Circuit. I can only compare it to the Meadowlands Meet. I had the opportunity in my racing lifetime to watch Lv Whiskers and Rene Poulin beat World Champion Jenna's Beach Boy, at 99-1. I've seen Mister Goal Wesgate Crown, Gumball and Moni Maker battle to the wire in the Nat Ray. And, I have seen Mob Scene come first up at the 1/4 in 5*F. weather and draw off from 1-9 shot Ball and Chain in 1:52. The Red Mile should be just as exciting.
Telephone Account Wagering, and not ON TRACK handle?? Who is grabbing their ankles here?? THE HORSEMEN, THE BETTING PUBLIC and FANS. We need more positive things in Ky for our Year round racing, not just Grand Circuit. Here is the Downside to KY racing from my eyes. It starts with judging and licensing. What does the word Integrity mean? How about Mickey Burke, whom Nicole Kraft (Editor of Hoofbeats) has stated to me that they will NOT do a story involving a Trainer on Appeal or under investigation. Where does the Red Mile stand??? Welcome! Granted, I have stated Grand Circuit outsiders to Kentucky racing, but we have some in our family too. Why do we allow trainer changes from trainers who have received HOT tests and fines..For Example (THE NAMES HAVE BEEN ALTERED TO PROTECT CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS) Let's say Ryan Boney had a barn of 25 and he get s a HOTT TEST, he then transfers the horses to Lob Rafoon, who after a month also gets a HOTT TEST, he then transfers the horses to Arthur Young and then back to Ryan Boney. Here's another one.. Mamar Loody gets banned for 5 years and sends all his horses over to Sike Miley. Same tack trunks, harness bags, horses.... Remember when my friend, local trainer Jim Brinson was fined for WIND AID. Lets see...Lidicain (by a KHHA board member) or Wind AID...You do the math. Does that warrant a 6 month and $1000 fine plus the embarrassment. For some, I guess so. Apparently you must have to be a Grand Circuit trainer to get away with much more. Do the judges, race secretarys and General Managers have BLINDERS ON? As for you former comment posters out there. Now is no the time to be silent. I respect you all as horsemen, but where have you been? Loney, Wildharber, Young, Mullen, Gannon, Sheehan? Silence is not golden anymore. Are you all happy now? Has KY racing changed for the good now and I have missed it? Put your name on your comment and UNITE here guys. We are Horsemen and we want change.. You have been Trackside, I am Michael Kravchak and this is my side |
