TRACKSIDE "Where the truth makes the story"
with Mike Kravchak
5/21/07
Week 4
I first would like to extend my gratitude to Mr. Guifoil
and the judges for allowing, my 2 yr old Cartouche,
have an official work on Preakness Day. I am pleased
to say that he is the fastest time 2 yr old in the
country. I think it is great for Bluegrass Downs, the
dying sport of harness racing, and for the horse his
self. Did anyone see how many people were lined up
at the draw gait? The Safety Rail? Even the
Grandstand was packed with watches galore. I
thought it was great for the business. There were
some people that threw a temper tantrum though.
Why? It was not beyond anything that wasn't done
here in the past. Was it because it was Kravchak? I'm
Sure!!! Nick Giberson & Brandon Simpson were the
first to say he was AWESOME, and thats great that
BGD let me do it. Some Representatives thought
otherwise. It is time for a change!
Now, for the juicy Scottie Harris story. When
speaking with Mr. Guifoil, he was there when The F
word was said. Normally, he drowns out the everyday
garbage that is said during draw time. He also said
that he did not know what was said outside the doors
before and/or after the statement. ALL it will take in
his words is a 2-3 sentence apology from the KHHA,
that it was a terrible day, and he is very sorry for
losing his temper. You will earn the respect of the
horsemen again, and all will be over. Let's get it done.
Pride is a major part of life but sometimes an "I'm
Sorry" goes a long, long way.
I know that there are certain REPS on track that try
there damnest to Avoid KyHarnessRacing.com and
their work. The seminar for example. As stated in an
earlier news post right here on KyHarnessRacing.com,
that not one REP from the KHHA was at this HUGE
seminar. Top Trainer Gary Neafus was there, and he
has 25 head. All it would have taken was 5 minutes,
"ONLY 5 MINUTES GUYS" to show your faces and
say HI, I am so-and-so and I am very busy with this
up coming weekend of racing, but thanks for coming
and if you need anything, here's where to find me.
END OF STORY!! Where is our Representation.€€€
Thanks Gary, Terry, Pat, the Kentucky Horse Racing
Authority and all the other HORSEMEN that are for
keeping this Huge Sponsor around BGD. I was happy
to see Bill Napier down here this weekend also. Many
Horsemen addressed there problems with him and I
do believe they will be resolved. BOLD STATEMENT
HERE,
DO NOT MAKE ME EAT MY WORDS!!!
As for the racing, there was another issue. It involved
Gary Neafus and Falita. As you have seen Falita a
$5000 claimer in years past was told that she was too
good to race here. WHAT THE #@*%. Are you for
REAL? Or has she DESTROYED too many good
horses trying to take the little money that we have
here at the Downs? BANINAH, BRUSH THE SAND,
HOLLY"S TOPAZ or PAPA DECK. Bill Napier said this
weekend, "Falita will get in EVERY WEEK till the end of
the meet!!" WAY TO GO BILL.
Fantastic job by race secretary Billy "the Kid" Perkins
on some GREAT racing this weekend. The Wildcat
series finals, saw MT BOWLES winning both 3 yr-old
Trotting Finals. As stated in my past Trackside, I did
say Super Sims would win the final over Like a Breeze.
And he did just that, pulling down the backside and
drawing off down the stretch. Jon's Girl, just breezed
her Final in a 2 horse non betting and non competitive
JOG. She actually went faster than the colts. WHAT A
FILLY!
In the pace series we saw Local Favorite, Real Excited,
get parked again. Would you leave on a 2 horse (1:
53) entry. NOPE. But he did, and Coastal Highway
was on GO. Part of the Nick Giberson Entry, he paced
the mile in a brisk 1:55.2. The filly division, had the
Dominant 2 horse entry of Go Ginny Go and Real
Model go 1-2 with Pat Curtin and Real Model prevailing.
On another note, where in the heck was Half Gold
Rose going. Parked every step with $145 to win on
her??? The luke warm favorite? No Love for Coop,
since Randy "I have already won 2 finals today"
Jerrell took over the lines. My heart said bet, but brain
said HECK NO JOE!!! Randy Jerrell now trains this 3 yr
old filly for Derrick Hutchison..
Uh, did anyone see Gentleman Joe Haught drag his
whip driving Holl's Topaz on Gary Neafus driving Frog
Hollow(a $2000 claimer and not Falita). A BIG NO
NO, JOE. Boy you are going to pay for that.
Congrats to Pat Curtin on winning 5 races this
Saturday. His mind is on the health of his long time
partner Ginny and their expected baby girl. Great job
Pat!
And how about Randy Crisler. FINALLY getting a
win.. Mississippi native Kelcey Perrymond also had 2
driving scores.
And finally the 14 year old Underexposed with driver
Pat Curtin, won at the DOWNS. He had been reading
Trackside and decided to get one more win before
retiring to his Indian grazy home.
The first fair is among us on Memorial day. Don't
forget to enter Thursday by 9am. Come out to the
Red Mile to see the future superstars and $2000
claimers.
Thanks again to KyHarnessRacing.com for their great
giveaways. Its working. The handle is up and so is the
Moral.
