Don't Miss Your Opportunity

Do you think if a passenger on the Titanic saw the
iceberg in its path, and told the Captain well enough
in advance, that he would have avoided the iceberg?
You would like to think so.

Then again, the Captain had already been warned
about the iceberg conditions, yet he continued to
travel at full speed ahead. We also know that a
member of the Captain’s team saw the iceberg as
they approached it, but it was too late. As the crew
worked frantically, they did everything humanly
    possible to miss the iceberg.

But it was too late -- the ill fate of the Titanic was
    before them.

So why did the Captain continue to travel full speed
ahead? Why did he make the decision to ignore all
the warnings? We'll never know the answers
because the Captain of the Titanic perished with the
    ship.

As harness racers we're all on the same ship and we
are, like it or not, at the mercy of our leaders or
    "captains".

They decide which direction to lead us.....left, right,
full steam ahead, or three steps back.

The decisions they make will determine the
industry's fate, just as the choice made by the
captain of the Titanic. Harness racing isn't any
different as it's future depends on the direction in
    which their leaders take it.

Where am I going with this?

Many elections, again, are before us all. Everyone
has a chance to play their part by casting their
votes. Whether it is casting a vote for President of
the United States or for your Board of Directors of
your association, it's a right we all have as citizens
of the United States or members of an association.

It may be all you can do, but at least be able to say
you played your role. Don't be the person that
doesn't vote because you think one vote won't
matter, and then be the person who says next
year, "How do these people get elected?"
