Harness Guru "The Swaymi"

Swaymi's Trivia Question: Whose job is it to make a horseman money?
A. Himself / Herself B. The Bettor C. Racing Commission D. Race Secretary

As every harness fanatic was eagerly waiting to see the outcome of the Meadowlands
Pace with a purse of 1 million dollars. Would the Steve Elliot trained Well Said live up
to the hype? Or would Mark Harder steal the spotlight once again with Hypnotic Blue
Chip as he did with Holborn Hanover in 2004. Would Chasin Racin give George Teague
Jr his second victory in the Pace? Everybody was waiting for the 9th race to be
competed at The Meadowlands on Saturday night July 18, 2009.
But all this has to wait, because on the under card we have the Thunder Ridge Fair
that showcases the non winners of ham sandwich races at the Ridge. All these races
were masterly put together by no one else than Professor Perkins. The Professor
would have been better off to give a stimulus check to all the boys who had a ruff
seven weeks at Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
After the dust had cleared and The Professor's plan flopped like, for some it meant to
get their gas money to get out of town, they will either have to pump and run or
siphon gas to make it to there next designation.
Guys like James Stiltner II (who had the meet of his life with a special thanks to Jim
"the crocodile" Brinson) won a $2000 claimer, for an unbelievable $1000 purse, with
Fire Me by 6 lengths in 159.3 ( took 50% of the purse) while finishing second was the
Brian "king of the ridge" Loney trained Dessies Girl driven by brother Dale ( for 25%
of the purse). Two lengths better back for third and fourth was Brush The Sand and
Georgians Girl ( who were fighting for either 12% or 8% of the purse) who were
driven by T.F. Cullipher and Chris "sensei" Loney.
And for the record, they were chased to the finish by Fox Valley Steffi driven by
Bobby ”give me a bud light” Brower who was able to snatch the welfare check (5% of
the purse) away from Timewaitsfornoone and Gary Neafus who failed the Professor
once again.
In the non winners of 755 in there last 5 starts that had a purse of 1000 dollars it
was another close battle between the Lendell Coleman trained Scenic Bay who was
driven by” the sin say” Chris Loney and Look Whos Invited trained by Brian “king of
the Ridge” Loney who again was driven by brother Dale for the boys from the
Budweiser city of St Louis Mo Lawrence La Barbera and John Debellis but prevailing
by a length was Scenic Bay in an eye popping 201.2 over a track listed as lightning
fast.
In the feature race of the day, the main event so to speak, the race everybody was
waiting for, a class you never see, a non winners of 301 in there last three starts with
an amazing purse of $1000 had every fan in the grandstand (all 28 of them) standing
as close as they could to the track, so they could watch these amazing equine
superstars. Every horsemen was standing along the fence so they wouldn’t miss the
chance to see immortality.
As the gate was rolling, Edgar the Weatherman had the six starters behind his mobile
starting gate, you could hear the big disappointment in Professors Perkins' voice as
this was the last chance for some horsemen to get there stimulus check.
Since the Three Blind Mice called off, it left Professor Perkins with the duty of being
the judge. Not only was he the judge, he was announcing the races. You want to
know what saddens me the most about all of this ..... All of those duties prevented
The Professor from running down onto the track and tackling one of the horses that
made his plan fall short to help certain guys that he wrote races for get a check.
After spending seven weeks (24 races dates) of trying to help some horsemen by
writing these conditions (3 or 4 times a day) even with one more day these horsemen
have failed Professor Perkins once again.
So I have one request for The Professor: Instead of writing these thoughtless
condition races how about some claiming series like in the past. And please with all do
respect ... and I mean WITH ALL DUE RESPECT .... please let me know when you find
out where your head is located. Some of my fans would love to know.
And this is how the Swaymi see’s it
Special Note. Well Said wins meadowlands pace in 147.3 and 15 for 15 for Lucky Jim
on to next weeks final.
