Management and team at Bluegrass Downs
4/19/07 KyHarnessRacing.com
KyHarnessRacing.com would like to compliment the
management and team at Bluegrass Downs for their
efforts in making everything better for the horsemen.
Track superintendent, Larry Brown, and his crew have
worked diligently to get the track in the best possible
condition. Repairing soft spots and hiring John Wells
to grade the track before horses arrived, contributed
to the fast track for the first day of qualifiers. Larry
Brown has been the track man there since 1991. John
Wells has been a grader operator for over 50 years,
and used to do the grader work at the world famous
Du Quoin State Fair.
The barn area has a speaker system that is loud and
crystal clear. With a good speaker system, things are
much more convenient for the horsemen, as well as,
the officials.
Also, the track has a post time this year of 4pm on
Thursdays and Friday, with exception of Friday May
4th at 1pm. The 4pm post time has its advantages.
People can come to the races and still have time to go
eat at a nice restaurant afterwards, catch a movie or
any event that may be downtown. General Manager,
Jerry Bradley says he believes live racing will benefit
with the 4pm post time, and expects some of the
afternoon bettors to play the live races as well.

Working together for harness racing
4/21/07 KyHarnessRacing.com
It's amazing what can be accomplished, in a short
period of time, when you team up with the right
people. KyHarnessRacing.com has teamed up with
Bluegrass Downs for some promotions and
marketing. If you haven't already, you need to make
plans now to attend opening day at Bluegrass
Downs. On opening day, there will be giveaways
after each race. Without the cooperation of
Bluegrass Downs General Manager, Jerry Bradley
and Track Superintendent, Larry Brown, none of this
would be possible. We send a special thanks to
these two gentlemen.
We would also like to mention that Masquerade
Costumes Inc., is providing two horse costumes for
both of these days, April 26th, opening day, and
May 5th Derby day. KyHarnessRacing.com
negotiated a deal with Masquerade Costumes, to
advertise in the live race program for the costumes.
We plan to have two people, in the horse costumes,
on both sides of the road on opening day and Derby
day.
Bluegrass Downs and KyHarnessRacng.com are
working together this meet, to promote harness
racing in the community. Marketing and foot work is
the key for promoting. Again KyHarnessRacing.com
would like to thank the Bluegrass Downs team for
their efforts. Remember, most people over estimate
what they can accomplish in a year, and under
estimate what they can accomplish in ten years.
