David Donald raced at Bluegrass Downs and also has raced some horses at The Red Mile. On New Years Eve, David Donald was involved in a fatal hunting accident. According to The Neshoba Democrat, Donald fell 21 feet from a tree he was climbing down.
Columbus, OH --- James Edward Springfield, 76, a Standardbred owner, trainer, and breeder, died March 1, 2008, at his training barn after a heart attack. Read more

Nate Sholar dies
Nate Sholar died Saturday February 26. Visitation will be 5-8pm Monday evening. Funeral arrangements are Tuesday at 11am at Byrn Funeral Home on Paris Rd in Mayfield, Ky.
(Below is a excerpt from Harnessracing.com) Sholar was born in Mayfield in western Kentucky and began his involvement with harness horses in 1962. For more than 40 years he worked on behalf of harness racing in Kentucky. He served for 20 years as a member of the former Kentucky Harness Racing Commission and was the heartbeat of the Kentucky Colt Association which organized racing at the state's county fairs. He was also a board member of the Kentucky Harness Horsemen's Association (KHHA) and was the first inductee into the KHHA's Hall of Fame.
