Announcement of the winner for the 2008
DA of the Year Award
The votes for the 2008 DA of the Year award have been counted and re-counted. Edgar the Weatherman
was not nominated for the 2008 award, so we felt obligated to let him make the announcement for this
prestigious and most honorable award. Remember folks, DA does not stand for District Attorney.
Edgar the Weatherman speaks -
"As you all know, I was not in the running this year for DA of the Year. As disappointed as that made
me, I felt good about the fact that I was able to fly under the radar as I was concentrating on my
newest position that I have never had anything to do with.......I mean never.............
.................can you say "president".......can you say "county fairs"......association?
We'll talk more about me later, but let me say this.....it does pay off to be in their back pocket."
NOW FOR THE "DA of the YEAR".
After the final count for the "DA" was made, it was been determined a dead-heat between.....
BOY WONDER and UNCLE BOBBY
Once again, Uncle Bobby has to share the spotlight for the DA award. Both winners were
very excited as we were able to catch up with them to get a few comments in their own
words --- here they are:
Boy Wonder - (in his own words - so fast and excited)
Holy bill of rights! Holy haberdashery! Holy atomic pile! Holy priceless collection of Etruscan
snoods! The way I get into these scrapes and get out of them, it's almost as though someone
was dreaming up these situations; guiding my destiny. The opposite of a girl is a boy!
WOW!!!! I don't know what to think. WOW!!! Batman will be so proud of me with this great
accomplishment. It's an honor to receive an award of this stature. I would like to take this time
to thank my fellow capodras: a special thanks to my friend Johnny down in South Florida
(Pompano). I can't go without mentioning my good friend Brian Loney, let's just say we've had
our moments....like the time I locked him out of the race office at "The Ridge". And could
somebody please say hello to Billy O for me.....fining him was the highlight of my career as a
judge-(I got my rocks off everytime). And who would ever think that I would have the balls to
hang the phone up on Ronnie "the Guru" Gurfein.....he didn't bring me any food from the grill
but you can bet that he respects me now.
The last thing I would like to say to my fellow asso-ciates......a word of wisdom if you will....
always-ALWAYS take a BOW movement before going through an automatic drive-thru car
wash....especially with a date.
Uncle Bobby - (as Edgar gives him a pat on the back)
"Thank you Edgar the Weatherman. To the members of the association.....I am The President of
the Association. As most of you know I've worked very hard and diligently for this year's DA
Award. If you're wondering how I came to be so famous as to be honored with this award......
here are some of the logistics of it all:
Early in 2008 the Watchdog committee uncovered all the nice sincere thoughts and things I had
to say, (on horseplop) , about all those fine people that I respect. The icing on the cake was, I
did this while holding the position as President of the association.
Also, for years I've sold out the horsemen (for winter training), as I represented them on their
behalf, while they didn't get and still don't get any percentage of the money bet on Telephone
Account Wagering (not a single penny). In 08' I sold out WINTER TRAINING for a personal
vendetta with a mafia man's son from up east. If you really want to know the truth, I really
didn't see it coming.
In short, it's an honor to be recognized as the D.A. of the Year. I've always known that I was
the biggest D.A. in Kentucky, but until this year I don't people really knew how much of a DA
I really am. Now they all know. This website is great. They get the facts straight. It feels great
to be THE DA for the second year in a row.
Finally, I get to be recognized for something I truly deserve. I look forward to working even
harder next year. Everyone needs a good D.A. And its great to share the spotlight with Boy
Wonder as the 08' D.A. of the Year. Thanks everybody. And yes, my head is still up my ass.
