| Is Due Diligence Required A new vet - Dr. Suess - pulled into the backside of a racetrack looking to drum up some business. He had a truck full of drugs and more inventory back at the office. All of his inventory was ordered on the company credit card. So what this beginner figured was, that since he had credit he would give credit -- to everyone willing to use his services. Now he pulls up to a new trainer's stable. This new trainer has 4 horses. Doc sees this as an opportunity to make doe. He felt he'd overlook the fact that both the trainer and his wife also work for another stable before working their own horses. Doc rocks on. Over the next couple of months Doc lets this couple's vet bill exceed $5000. Now keep in mind, this trainer and wife work for another stable to make ends meet. There's absolutely no dispute that this trainer owes the vet the $5000 for the services he had done on his horses. However, there are a few questions that need asking: Who was more careless here, the trainer or the vet? Both. They chose to operate in a careless manner by not stopping at a $500 or a $1000. Ultimately, the vet. Why did the trainer let his bill get so big? Why did the vet let the bill get so out of hand? If the trainer fails to pay, who's responsible for collecting? Before you answer that, here are a few more simple questions. Did he do any kind of credit check? Did he get a credit card number to put on file? Did he ask for references? When he saw the situation, did he stop to think? Or was he so money hungry that he didn't care? Now before any assistance should be granted in this situation, the vet should provide proof that he did his due diligence before racking up that large vet bill. If he didn't do that, then his behavior should be considered reckless and he should not be rewarded. |

| Coo-Coo the Clown It has been brought to our attention that we've been a little hard on Coo-Coo the Clown. We have even been told that Coo-Coo himself says that we are a pain in his...you know what. So since the Kentucky circuit in nearing the season's end, we thought it would be good time to set the record straight. Sometimes Coo-Coo really isn't all that bad of a guy. The other 99% of the time he needs a proctologist to find his head. And if you only knew half as much as Coo-Coo does, then you could start selling information from an information booth on New Circle Rd. And you would be able to retire in no time at all. He's very smart guy ---- just ask him. |
