Things To Do

The western end of Kentucky is a recreational
playground. Two large lakes, Kentucky and Barkley,
are home to fishermen and water skiers. This rural
area is historically known for catfish, hunting,
camping, lodges and moonshine. Historic homes and
Antique shops are in abundance. Incredible place for
photographers. Bring lots of film and a telephoto lens
    for capturing the wildlife.

Whether you like to swim with the fish or catch them,
Western Kentucky’s Lakes & Rivers Region offers
ideal opportunities for outdoor recreation. Fishing,
hunting, boating, hiking and wildlife viewing are just a
few of our many outdoor opportunities.

Naturally, there are unlimited opportunities for fun on
the water, but on land you can enjoy the beautiful
parks and privately-owned resorts, quaint bed and
breakfasts and hotels/motels around the region.
Enjoy trips to history museums and art galleries,
golf, tennis, horseback riding and more.

Be warned, however, the relaxing environment might
be contagious. You could find yourself waving at
strangers, feeling safe in a crowd and sharing fish
stories with the locals. You might forget about the
stresses of everyday life and focus on the simple
things, like teaching a child to bait a hook, learning to
sail, rediscovering your passion for American history
    or finding that perfect antique.

Get your bags packed. Then sit back, relax, prop up
your feet and stay for a while. Your friends in
Western Kentucky’s Lakes & Rivers Region welcome
you with
Southern hospitality.

Players' Bluegrass Downs set to draw its first card
4/7/08 KyHarnessRacing.com  Source: www.ustrotting.com

Paducah, KY --- Players Bluegrass Downs will open its
first box at 9 a.m. (EDT) on Tuesday morning, Apr.
8, for its first card, to be held on Thursday, Apr. 10.

There will be a 48-hour box at Players Bluegrass
Downs, and racing will be conducted on Thursdays
and Fridays, starting at 5 p.m. Saturday's racing will
    start at 1p.m.

So far, there have 28 qualifying races held, and there
will be another card of qualifying races conducted on
Tuesday, Apr. 8. Once the meet starts, qualifiers will
be held on Saturday mornings at 11a.m.

Neafus looks to defend his title at Bluegrass
4/13/08 KyHarnessRacing.com

Once again, driver - trainer Gary Neafus started the
Bluegrass Downs meet off with a bang. Neafus had a
driving and training triple on Friday evening, as he
went behind the starting gate 16 times over the
weekend at Bluegrass Downs. In 2007, he captured
the driver and trainer titles in both dash wins and
    money earnings.

If Aaron Mitchell has any say, Neafus will have his
work cut out in the race for the driving and training
titles this year. Mitchell, from Texas, has his stock
ready to rumble as he has made his presence felt
over the first week of racing.

On Thursday, opening day, Mitchell brought home 3
winners. All 3 horses were owned, trained, and driven
by Mitchell. He also had a win on Saturday putting
him on top of the standings.

Thanks to the strong support of all the horsemen
racing this year at Bluegrass Downs, especially the
Mississippi and Southern Illinois horsemen, the
majority of the races have 8 horse fields, which
increase the chances of the public betting more
    money.
Big week for Pat Melloy and Kevin Cane
4/21/08 KyHarnessRacing.com

Pat Melloy brought in five winners over the weekend
at Bluegrass Downs, with four of those on Saturday
afternoon, which included veteran pacer Count
Masone. Melloy owns all but one of his winners, of
which that one is owned by Brandi Melloy.

Kevin Cane of Starksville Mississippi, showcased his
ability on Thursday evening by turning in a driving
and training triple on the program. Cane also owns all
three horses. He had another win on Friday, picking
up the catch drive for Albert Clemens and Jamey
    Holmes of Mississippi.
